Upon arrival, we check in at our hotel and prepare for an adventure, collecting our packed lunch before setting out on a soft trek. The approximately 10 km loop trail takes us to the breathtaking Grunas Waterfall and through the dramatic landscapes of Theth Canyon, with around 600 meters of ascent and descent along the way. With an elevation gain of approximately 400 meters, the trail offers magnificent views and a sense of serenity. We pause for a picnic lunch amidst the pristine alpine scenery, surrounded by towering peaks and unspoiled nature. On our return, we visit the Lock-in Tower in Theth, a historic stone structure that tells the story of Albania’s ancient blood feud traditions and offers insight into the region’s unique cultural heritage. FAQ

How difficult are the treks in Theth, and do I need prior hiking experience?

The hikes to Grunas Waterfall, Theth Canyon and the Blue Eye are considered soft treks. They cover 10 km routes with moderate elevation, suitable for travelers with a basic fitness level. No previous trekking experience is required, and your guide will pace the walk comfortably.

What type of accommodation should I expect in Theth?

Theth is a remote alpine village, and accommodations are typically family-run guesthouses or small lodges. Rooms are clean, comfortable and simple, offering an authentic experience of local mountain life.

What should I pack for the alpine portions of the trip?

We recommend comfortable walking shoes with good grip, a light daypack, layered clothing for changing mountain temperatures, a reusable water bottle and sun protection. Even in warmer months, mornings and evenings in Theth can be cool, so a light jacket is advised.
